I think they could help, undoubtedly. Sometimes people learn from the gut, more than the brain. I don't think anyone is unteachable, and while my two countrymen are more traditionally structured than I, I prefer to approach every opportunity as if it's a great one.
Imagine if we could empathy bond to link our dreams! Even if they don't affect the world, time moves differently there. We could spend years teaching one another soooooo much inside of a dream, and possibly wake with only a night having passed. Hah, wouldn't that be convenient.

I did try to push the empathy bonds with a few people when I first showed up. We just got very up in our feelings — no dreams, memories, any other kind of transfer. But it's always possible our abilities have evolved with recent events.
Either way, feelings might help people get on the same page faster. You might want to pitch some kind of training/dream club when you're ready, see how it goes over with everyone else.
I want to talk it over with my countrymen, maybe start with a small group to test the limits and consequences before I suggest it to all of us. I'd hate to disappoint.
